Optimizing Vocal Presence in Mixes

I’ve been experimenting with compression settings on vocals and am curious how others achieve clarity in their mixes. I typically set my attack around 5ms and release at about 50ms for a natural sound, but I’d love to hear your thoughts or any tips on specific plugins or EQ techniques that work well for you.

You might want to try a de-esser before the compressor. I’ve noticed that it can really help clear up harsh S sounds and make the vocal stand out more in the mix without sounding too processed. Using a plugin like FabFilter Pro-DS has been a game changer for me in balancing clarity and smoothness.
